Do Not Touch Suspicious Objects
I have always questioned my surroundings, having grown up in Aldershot, a town shaped by its association with the British Army. The forceful presence of the military land, which encompasses much of the area, has instilled an air of concealment. These restricted landscapes have become a central focus of my practice. Through analogue photography, I explore how the supposed tranquillity and picturesque qualities of these environments act as a false blanket of security in relation to the dangers and ambiguities that are inherent to militarised spaces. This can fool a civilian into trusting these spaces. Do not touch suspicious objects reflects on the fragility of human agency, revealing how Control over our surroundings remains largely unknown.
