If Yew Could Talk
‘If Yew could talk’ is a body of work exploring the age-old Yew trees native to our country. These evergreen conifers are notably resilient and known for their longevity, some of which have reached ages of approximately 4,000 years old. Throughout their rich history and across a range of cultures, there have been many beliefs attached to the Yew tree. From folklore to religion, symbolism of life and death has been a constant. Through 5x4 large format photography, If Yew could talk, highlights their unfathomable history, showcasing unique forms and textures, preservation and faith.
