Flatland, Wetland
People are quick to dismiss the Fens as a bleak and isolating flatland, something eerie and off-putting that exposes the primal fight or flight urge when nothing is hidden. This perception means no one cares to look at the beauty that can be found in this wetland. The isolating land that means any focal point offers a sense of relief, an eerie place where the local folklore still lives and breathes, the honesty of a place where past, present and future meet on an open marsh under a bleak sky. That is the beauty of the Fens; something visible, unsettling and breathing.
