Bad Feminist
Femininity and womanhood is often defined by beauty, the standards for which is rooted in misogyny and fuelled by capitalism. Despite knowing this, women often continue to conform to these beauty standards to make life easier and to be more palatable to society, resulting in the feeling of inner conflict between beauty and feminism. Within this body of work, the impact of beauty standards on women has been explored, specifically the makeup industry and its relentless mission to make women hate themselves and to change women’s appearances.
