My practice explores the effects of self-imposed psychological isolation. The work engages with this issue through the photographing of a constructed, notional space that has been manipulated with light. The manipulation of light and shadow is an abstract representation of the evolving negative process of isolation which distorts the individual's perception of their direct surroundings. The confined and constructed space echoes the created reality that the individual experiences through psychological isolation and by this means the work presents the viewer with a physically realized depiction of this experience.
