Andrew OToole

Anthropocene Now

Practicing through photography and video, the reasoning behind O'Toole's work lies in the creation of knowledge relating to the negative implications of late capitalism upon the environment. The intention of Andrew's work is to inform a broader audience through lens-based media about environmental issues in the proposed Anthropocene chronostratigraphic epoch. In doing so, O'Toole offers his work as a platform for meaningful dialogue and understanding of industrial processes in sites that society has become intentionally distanced from. The act of passing through sites of industry in the landscape on foot or at speed provides Andrew with the opportunities to make records that doesn't just show an audience the landscape, but how humanity relates to it.
