Kerry O'Reilly
December 20th 1943
Kerry O'Reilly's practice explores notions of memory and remembrance in both personal and social histories. Her work is largely concerned with the depiction of narrative without description allowing for an abstract representation of the past. The work shown here is an exploration of an area of South Devon that was evacuated during WWII to provide a training ground for American forces in preparation for the D-Day landings. These images are an exploration of a landscape shaped by massive social upheaval and wartime tragedy and a space where history remains concealed beneath the surface.
