Contours
Contours is a study of the landscape that can be found in la banlieue de Paris (residential developments surrounding Paris). The work focuses on a selection of natural areas, which illustrate the relationship between the landscape and those who have adopted it over the years. It seeks to recreate a fictional green belt, suggesting how the area could look today if things had played out differently. I took these photos during the last two years of a five year period living in Paris. What began as a nagging sense of curiosity, grew into an affinity with the landscape and an urge to tell a story, which would go beyond the stereotypes sometimes associated with the territory.
