Blake Lewis
Dispersion
This series of work represents one part of a larger ongoing body of work that explores ideas around the surface, depth and materiality of the photograph. This work looks at the surface of the print as the primary recorder of controlled light infractions. The rigid, structured process involved allows room for the element of chance to play an important role in the development of these images. The apparatus used to create these images internalises the mimetic qualities of photography, eschewing the outside world of objects and things for an intuitive, spontaneous moment of the realization. With this work light is the fundamental compositional material, as analogue photographs they embody the interaction of light with light sensitive material, each print is unique and unrepeatable.
