Patrick's photographic practice draws upon a lifelong interest in the physical environment and our place within it. Having worked in forestry and then conservation management his work is broadly informed by a multitude of disciplines that also include humanitarian perspectives drawn from psychology, religious and spiritual ideologies, folklore, mythology and contemporary landscape art. In the extensive Severn Estuary project Patrick seeks to explore our relationship to place and how our communal imagination conspires, over time, to create a landscape shaped by our values, choices and perspectives. This relationship to our land is a liminal space where social, political and cultural imperatives collide, that creates the historical conflicts of interest as well as the underlying threads of commonality that connect us all.
