MARGOTIn contrast to how a child belongs in the world, adult belonging is never as natural, innocent, or playful. Adult belonging has to be chosen, received, and renewed. It is a lifetime's work. John O'Donahue 2000. This work explores the end of belonging, the irresistible search for a foreign space in which to grow and develop one's identity, what Greg Madison calls 'existential migration'. It is also about an attraction to the uncanny, the unheimlich, the foreign. It is the abandonment of comfort, security, intimacy and conformity in the unending search for oneself. Margot was born and educated in Scotland, lives and works in Paris, France.
