The Oaks
This series focuses around the nude form and self-portraiture, juxtaposing fragile flesh with the working agricultural environment. Influenced by Renaissance art and contemporary portraiture, I have incorporated my experiences growing up on a beef and dairy farm and how this has shaped the person I have become. Traditionally, children of a farming background went on to inherit the land and continue the family-run business; however, it is becoming less and less the custom for people my age. I am not a typical farmer's son and I want to explore this disconnection within my work.
