Aftermath Speculation
It is now two minutes and 30 seconds to midnight. Alongside the reality of the British and United States governments separately funding research models to test the robustness of contemporary civilization, that is, attempts to predict its collapse, we are presented with a series of experiences within mainstream entertainment that place us at the end of the world as we know it. With an indexical approach to image making, I took on the role of the lone protagonist in search of examples of entertainment that incorporate these post-apocalyptic narratives. A shopping mall used for zombie survival exercises, cinema seating after a showing of Mad Max; these narratives have crept into popular culture. Aftermath Speculation is an attempt to understand why.
