Sunday Swim
In a time when humans are plundering the natural landscape, these swimmers are part of a growing number of people searching for a reconnection with nature. They are involved in a deliberate act of immersion away from digital technology, away from the 'market place'; both of which have become overwhelming and alien. The connection with the elements, the ancient natural landscape and with each other brings joy. My aim is to communicate the sense of peace, tranquillity and joyousness experienced in this weekly ritual. I wonder if naming this activity 'wild' illustrates just how far we have become estranged from the nature. The swimmers seek connection in a disconnected world.
