Ophelia
Ophelia is a project that is originally based on the painting by Sir John Everett Millais in 1851-2, which has become one of the best-known illustrations from Shakespeare's play Hamlet. In which she was singing before she drowned in a river in Denmark, the scene was described in Act IV, Scene VII of Hamlet in a speech by Queen Gertrude. For the series, I wanted to recreate a scene that is similar to the old painting. In doing so I had to recreate the scene of Ophelia in the lake. In addition to using the painting as an inspiration, I also used inspiration from other photographers such as Rehka Garton and Sarah Ann Wright.
