Empty nest

In traditional Chinese culture, the elderly solely rely on their children to look after them physically and mentally. Today the Chinese social structure is slowly being degenerated; the younger generations are able work in the high tier cities of China. Consequently, the older generations have been left behind in their "less modernized" small towns. Their story reveals one of the main phenomena, known as the "Empty Nest Syndrome", in contemporary China.
