My work departs from research about the prevalence of the male gaze in art history. I am interested in the relationships between artist, subject and spectator, when the production of an artwork is controlled by a woman. The female gaze, as discussed by Jill Soloway, is ever-growing. I feel like I should be doing something but I'm not quite sure what (2020), is a moving-image piece lasting approximately 3 minutes. The female artist is always present, yet not always visible. The fragmented mirrors spin gently, revealing glimpses of the nude and reminding the audience of what is revealed or hidden.
