Mimesis (2019 - 2020)
Mimesis is a series of photographs that examine notions of masculinity and suggest looking at gender stereotypes from a contemporary perspective. Inspired by Greek mythology, the project wants to offer and to question our perception of the feminine and masculine side of the male, explored through dance and body movement. It also aims to test theories in which repetition and imitation are seen as existing parts that shape the male individual and see masculinity as a form of performativity not just as a set of traits inherited biologically. This body of work fits within my interest in portraiture and fashion, and my ongoing exploration of themes of gender and identity as a tool of expression.
