‘Urban Isolation’ is a project exploring contemporary city environments and the individuals that inhibit these liminal spaces. More than half the world’s global population now lives in cities and although we are surrounded by thousands of others and digitally connected to millions more, there is evidence to suggest that we feel lonelier than ever. ‘Urban Isolation’ looks at the disconnection that proliferates in cities, focusing on the individual moods and preoccupations amongst the texture, movement and pace of the city. The project aims to create representations of the urban experience through capturing fleeting moments of the isolated individual, as well as the overstimulating nature of moving through these spaces.
