Happisburgh The village falling into the sea
My main focus is documenting the gradual destruction of the village of Happisburgh (pronounced Hays – Bruh) in Norfolk where coastal erosion has led to 30 homes being destroyed in the last 8 years and as many are under threat over the next 5-10 years. My interest is in not only recording the gradual destruction of the village but the affect it has on the local inhabitants whose properties are at risk and in many cases, their only real assets are almost valueless. Many years of neglecting the wooden sea defences have left the cliffs at the mercy of the North Sea and the increasing threat of storm surges.
