Correspondence is a communication between mind, body and spirit. This project explores Caroline Rooke’s innate understanding and expression of this universality. Within the spiritual philosophy of Hermeticism, there is a Principle of Correspondence which states, ‘as above, so below; as below, so above’. It signifies a truth correlating the mental, physical, and spiritual planes of existence, saying that all things between these planes are connected and manifest. An intrinsic aspect of Rooke’s photography is to engage in meditation during the process of creating work. The trilogy of her practice is a focus on the nature of light, an awareness of the passing of time and the physical movement of breath within the body.
