Family Album
Since family albums are often the sole physical reminders of long-gone people, places, and events, their cultural significance comes from their inclusion in everyday rituals. They provide a link between the past and the present, even if that connection is merely a figment of our imagination. Inspired by this concept, this work consists of a series of self-portrait collages that incorporate personal mementoes. The project focuses on the significance of artefacts and images in constructing "familial identity" by using photography as a lens to examine the link between past and present. Additionally, it examines how our current life choices, behaviours and societal standards are influenced by looking at family photographs.
