The Ladies
“The Ladies” is a fashion series created by documenting the clothing worn by women of a knitter natter group based in West Lothian. I used their portraits as inspiration for clothing used in the secondary images which were created on location and with a young model. The aim was to create fashion images that contrast the approachability of the ladies by creating a character that has an atmosphere of uneasiness. I found shape, colours and lines on location that created interesting compositions to pair with their respective portraits. I felt it important to shoot in locations where the ladies would have lived, worked and raised their families to create a narrative whilst remaining ambiguous to their actual story.
