Rural Area
Every six years each County Council in Ireland has to have an updated County Development Plan as a framework for placemaking and future proofing. I researched my local County Longford Development plan 2021-2027, focusing on the 26 rural area cluster zones. Already documenting my local place, I wanted to visualise and demystify the idea of the rural space. In my conceptual installation I examined the structural role of hierarchical statutory bodies involved in the process of the rural areas from international bodies and national. The council is required to fulfill all regulatory policies using guidance from the statutory bodies. The local Council vision is conservation of landscape character and appropriated scaled new employment generating developments, sustaining a vibrant rural community
