Over the last 3 years, Valerie has been photographing local High Streets as a social and historical record of how the High Streets are changing. Taking inspiration from Martin Parr’s work in the 70’s and 80’s showing the change of fashion; society and the way we lived. Through her work, Valerie is documenting the birth, death, reincarnation, and regeneration of our local High Streets. This will be an on-going project over the next few years and Valerie will revisit areas in the future to document what changes have taking place as fashion and social needs of the residents change and whether the large supermarket chains and out of town shopping malls and online shopping experiences continue to have an impact.
