Dark, Dark Wood
his body of work focuses on the darker aspects of the forest and the ominous presence it can generate. The woods are a recurring character in mythology and fairytale, within which lie threat, danger and ultimately breeds fear within the psyche. The work explores the powerful, transformative effect of light on a physical space and the psychological state of the mind, investigating the transition from rational to irrational emotion and thought, when alone, lost and isolated deep within the forest when darkness begins to dominate. By selectively re-illuminating the space, it once again alters its character, presence and form, creating a new, transformed environment.
