Mike Downing

Shot on location in a sprawling house clearance and reclamation shop, this piece forms an analogue database of the 'failed heirloom'; Objects deemed unworthy of inheritance, divorced of their collections and the weighted meaning of their original ownership. Intended for exhibit in a large scale interactive magnetic display, the audience is invited to create their own typological grid of nine images as a reflection of the archival methods of the museum space and archaeological sites as well as questioning our own future material and digital legacies.
