The ubiquity of digital cameras gives us freedom to photograph unrestrainedly, reinforcing the integral role that photography plays in our everyday. This project plays on the visual equivalence established between various types of imagery deemed "Visually Similar" by an Internet search engine. This automated mode of viewing reveals a world mediated and classified in a distinctly non-human way. A discourse that would never have been possible with analogue photography is established between diverse images whose commonalities lie not in their subject but in their aesthetic qualities as analysed by a search algorithm. Personal experience is reduced to the purely visual, reminding us of the danger of losing the ability to make the distinction between the world of images and reality.
