Arendi Lambrechts
This work explores London's urban landscape, and the interaction between society and their environment. Investigating the notion of exterior control, and the structures that shape perceptions. Adopting an approach of 'truth beyond realism', rejecting the inadequate 'truth' of documentary photography. Examining a culture of disconnection, hyper-reality and the fading of individuality. Re-contextualising the familiar, the pleasurable aesthetic of 'old' by presenting a visual document which suggests at more then what is directly accessible, a process that relies on slow revelation. This project works to direct the viewers' attention to the driving forces that frame our complex society, as well as the structures of power which have become increasingly dominant, but remain unseen.
