Special TreatmentSpecial Treatment is an installation consisting of a number of related works that results from a deep meditation on the enduring presence of a historically contested site: the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. An important part of historical record is the relationship between the material remains and what can be understood. This work focuses on modes and practices of re-presentation in order to attempt to represent that which persists: forms of memory, the activity of witnessing and the relationship between absence and presence.
