This work explores our constant daily use of plastic, to highlight the problems of consumption in our world. The images draw attention to the texture and detail of the plastic material; the model becomes the packaged product. Like a second skin, it protects and preserves but also suffocates. Shiny and seductive, the images contradict the reality of the damage plastic causes to the environment. The allure of the fashion image is undercut through references to the environmental crisis, highlighting the tension between beauty and destruction. Using the pose to accentuate beauty, plastic is used as elaborate clothing. This draws the viewer into the image and encourages people to think about how much material is wasted by the beauty industry.
