Chapter 5 Synopsis:

  • Arrival in London was an accident, after doing seasonal work in Europe.
  • Hitched to the north of France, hadn't enough money to return to Ireland so went to London.
  • Was temping in posh shop, Aspreys, in London, bought return ticket because it was cheaper than single.
  • When arrived in Ireland parents were angry so decided to return to London.
  • Had taken pictures while traveling in Europe with friend.
  • Had a portfolio of student and holiday pictures including self portraits.
  • Was looking for job as assistant to fashion or portrait photographer.
  • Lost portfolio on train but was given job by room, interiors and set photographer.
  • Had also applied to Polytechnic of Central London but turned down place for job.
