A Vestige of Youth
This exhibition piece is a photographic installation combined with audio. The installation aims to preserve the Hogan family history through the reappropriation of old family images. Francis Hogan, the mother of the family, narrates memories of her fourteen children. In today's culture, it is virtually unknown to have a family of this proportion. Photography as a practice is related to death and the past because the moment you take a photograph of something, instantaneously it becomes something that doesn't exist. The more we try to preserve something, the more we shift the focus towards mortality and death.
