Halfway in Between
'Halfway in Between' is a desire to investigate that derives from my close relationship with my Irish father. His identity is only half of my own, yet I feel more connected to my father's side of me that is locationally distant to where I grew up. Together we returned to his birthplace in Ireland and made collaborative portraits of each other. I have also made photographs of my grandparent's (the family) home and the town in which it is situated. Alongside that, I have taken portraits of my other Irish family members. This is in contrast with my family album highlighting the significance of absence and obsolescence. 'Halfway in Between' consolidates and nurtures the ideas of distance and balance.
