Louise Grundy
Come sit and I will play Mother
'Come sit and I will play Mother' is Louise Grundy’s current and ongoing works, visually exploring the connection between women and the natural landscape. She specialises in alternative darkroom methods, such as lith printing and experimenting with fogged papers, creating intimate prints, inviting the viewer to consider the parallel treatments of women and nature, which we call Mother. Grundy ponders on the notion that we only perceive the land in the way we do, due to its feminisation. Rejecting the title of landscape photographer, she dissects the traditional subject matter through her process-led photography to allow a closer study of nature, encouraging a connection between the photograph, the landscape, and the viewer.
