Dear Daughter
A mother and daughter’s relationship is the most fundamental, complex and mysterious of all relationships. A mother brings her daughter into the world, she loves, nurtures, and relies on her as she gets older. She teaches her, talks to her, gives her advice but, in some cases, she may want to say more than she can, however, can’t because it can be complicated and uncomfortable. Close relationships can be more difficult and for those reasons conversations are left unsaid and ultimately may never happen. For my documentary, I explored these conversations by capturing a decisive moment between the pair, their individual look, the vulnerability, and the emotion. Alongside the images, earnest words have been written by each mother to their daughter.
