Sites of worship
I spent my early years in my grandmother’s house in a small village, named Braniste. Every Sunday morning, everyone would put on their best clothes - “the Sunday clothes” as they used to call them -, and head to the church. After the service, everyone would stop in the churchyard and socialize - talk about the crops, the weather, the news, or other subjects that could interest or affect them, and the children would play around them. Influenced by these memories and in search of a familiar feeling, I decided to visit and photograph religious sites where I now live, Dunstable. I am interested in the way certain spaces contain and promote a sense of spirituality.
