My brother Josh has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 13. I remember it started with him needing to drink constantly. He went to the hospital and the diagnosis was confirmed: Type 1 diabetes. He struggled to adjust to this new life. Not being able to eat freely, having to constantly monitor his blood sugar levels, his mood swings, his medication. This project documents how he is managing his diabetes, and how he lives with the support of his family. Encouragement of family is represented in the images to signify how strong my brothers’ environment is. He still suffers from ‘confusion’ and ‘severe dehydration’. The focus is to display how he exemplifies living limitlessly despite stigma and adversity.
