We were called witches
We were called witches. Subversive, rebellious, women. Knowledgeable. Unconventional, sexual. A threat. We were called witches. We came from Mother Earth, the feminine. The generous, the nurturer. Passive. The chaotic, the savage. To be tamed. The witch as the unruly woman and disorderly nature. To be dominated and subdued. We were called witches. We were burned, drowned. But still, we rise. Not for revenge. For healing. Healing ourselves, our community. We are called witches. A reclamation. An act of resistance. The witch as an emancipatory figure. Magic to celebrate our oneness with nature. The organic cosmos, the feminine divine power.
