what colour are the waves?
“Grief is a cruel kind of education. You learn how ungentle mourning can be, how full of anger. You learn how much grief is about language, the failure of language and the grasping for language.” Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in Notes on Grief We all experience grief throughout our lifetime. For me the first encounter with grief came at the age of 24 and led to needing a way to understand my emotions. Not able to put my emotions into words, I was grasping at ways to express myself. I realised there would be no way forward without a way through. Through this project I explore my grief. Within the project, I regularly look back at my progress and explore how close friendships serve as a safe place to discover all that comes with grief. It is a love letter to the people who were lost and to my friends, the people who found ways to make me laugh even when pain still resides.
