A Very English God - Scenes from the City churches
I am fascinated by institutions: how they work, how people function within them and their private or unseen spaces. This set of images is about the Church of England churches in the Square Mile (the City of London) and shows the visual signs of how they operate. This year, 2023, is the 300th anniversary of the death of Christopher Wren, the star architect of most of the City churches when they were rebuilt after the fire of London. But rather than focus just on Wren's architecture and the past, these images also celebrate the people who make the City churches function today and into the future.
