A Cocktail of Blood and Sex
This project explores the connection between the art of the grotesque and the erotic. The concept of the abject is weaved throughout my work as I use inanimate objects alongside my body to create obscure scenes. Within my work, I combine the typical ‘sexy’ imagery with something that repels - does this make you think twice about being attracted to the sexual body? Do you feel shameful? Or repulsed? Or even more aroused? This project draws upon a range of grotesque imagery alongside erotic segments of my own body, both informing each other’s shared meanings yet opposite aesthetics.
