Jinyu Cao
The Boot of East London, 2023-2024
Upon relocating to East London, I was captivated by the diversity of cultures I encountered in the local park next to my residence. This park, Victoria Park, oddly resembles a boot on the map, which inspired the title of my project, "The Boot of East London." It became my photographic diary of encounters with strangers in Victoria Park every week. These individual encounters with together into a broader narrative that reflects the communal spirit and individual expressions of Victoria Park. It is a way for me to establish a connection with the people and the place around me. It's an exploration of distance and belonging, capturing those moments of beauty and diversity that define the human condition.
