What Lies Within?
My lifelong fascination with nature has evolved into a broader concern for the environment, and my contribution is to highlight urgent challenges from biodiversity loss to polluted waterways. 'What Lies Within?' is a series that explores the state of Britain’s rivers. Through lack of planning and investment, regulatory failure and indifference, the systems we rely on to keep our waterways clean have broken down. Pollution and chemical toxicity are at record levels, with sewage overflow a prime culprit. The effect is environmentally damaging and socially depressing. These images show the dichotomy between seemingly sublime countryside river landscapes and the close up reality, but also engender optimism that we can help nature to overcome adversity and restore the balance of life.
